These folks leave their tags because they want to be recognized by their peers even though it is a "tag" name. Somewhere in Paris, he or she, is plotting to do another masterpiece.
I have seen some nice looking graffiti from time to time.
Not sure if you watch "The Rick Mercer Report" but he always does his rant while walking through graffiti covered alleys, but the artwork is very nice and colourful. I'm assuming he finds the alleys in Toronto.

Some places are crying out for quality graffiti, but the mindless oiks just deface any blank space they come across with rubbish.
Then you have geniuses like Suggsy at the other end of the spectrum.
Or even Banksy. Doh! Suggsy - yuck!
